Peter Lock

Redlands Unified School District
Coordinator, Foster Youth and Student Support Services/Foster and Homeless Liaison
Redlands, California
I have worked as an English teacher (six years at the high school level, and 19 teaching eighth grade English), as well as journalism, yearbook, and drama. This was followed by working as a middle school assistant principal for five and a half years, before taking on my current position four years ago, overseeing our Academic Case Carriers and Elementary Counselors, and their focus on supporting and creating equity for our foster, homeless, and other highly resilient youth. We're seeing GPAs and attendance increase, and are changing lives on a daily basis! We hope you'll come to our practical (as opposed to philosophical) session and hear about the creation of our program, how we identify students, and the results we're seeing, before hearing from an Elementary Counselor and Academic Case Carrier about what they do on a daily basis. Plenty of time to ask questions and learn more detailed specifics is provided; our hope is that you leave with ideas as to what you can begin to implement in your district!
